Hacklab has a sauna that can accommodate about ten people for bathing. The sauna shift is held once a week on Saturday evenings. The landlord has agreed that the sauna may be heated once a week. No separate fee is charged for using the sauna; it is included in the membership fee.

Sauna shifts

There is basically one shift, which is a regular mixed shift. The sauna typically starts heating at 20:00 (8:00 PM), after which there is an hour or two of sauna time. It is possible to make daily changes to the sauna shifts if everyone present wants to change them, so please bring your opinions and intentions to sauna forward before the shift starts, for example in the group chat channel.

Heating instructions

As usual, the sauna does not heat itself, so someone has to click the heater on. You will notice the heater has turned off when the lights on the heater go out in the steam room.

  1. Check that the sauna room is clear of belongings and that there is nothing on top of the heater.
  2. Close the sauna door.
  3. Set the time on the timer switch in the changing room corridor by turning it to, for example, 2 hours.
  4. The sauna will be ready in about an hour.

The sauna temperature is measured.

FIXME: An audio announcement plays from the club space speakers when the sauna reaches the target temperature. In addition, a notification about starting the sauna heating will be sent to the community channel.

Sauna rules

  • Use a seat cover! If they are out, you can fetch them from the nearby store and they can be reimbursed by the board. You can also bring your own not single use cover (for example hand towel works just fine).
  • Do not bring glass bottles or other items that pose an accident hazard into the sauna premises.
  • We only have one changing room (we turned the other into a VR room), so if needed, the changing room toilet can be used as a changing stall.
  • Rinse and ventilate the sauna after use.
  • Remember to empty the water buckets, close the windows, and turn off the lights when you leave.

Faults

  • If the heater does not heat properly, check the thermostat setting. The heater has two temperature controls, one for air and one for stones. Normally you do not need to touch the thermostat.
  • The heater fuses are located in the stairwell’s electrical cabinet; contact the facilities manager if you need to access it.
  • If the sauna temperature measurement is not working, check the meter’s battery. The meter is white and located on the inside of the sauna door.
